1992 Fleer League Leaders #692

Remember when baseball card sets were like 700+ cards? I do...

Photobucket

The '92 Fleer set was 732 cards deep, not including the inserts (such as the "Rookie Sensations"). You can get a box on the 'Bay for around $15 bucks ($5 BIN + $10 shipping) or a complete, factory sealed set for around $20 shipped. Cards of value for that particular year were found in the "Updates" set (which featured Tim Wakefield's rookie card!!!!).

1991 Studio #53

Just got done watching Fab Five on ESPN. Tough to watch at times, but the truth hurts, and pain builds character. Pretty much the awesomest 2 hours of televsion I've watched in months. So let's take it back to '91...

Love the cheesy black and white, yearbook-style photo. Hate the teenie-tiny black and white Tigers' logo in the bottom left-hand corner ~~takes out magnifying glass~~...

Though I'm a Chip and bleed maroon 'n gold, I grew up watching and loving Michigan basketball... and tomorrow I'm wearing black socks to work.

1997 Limited Counterparts #47

Brought to you by Leaf/Donruss...

"LED AL FIRST BASEMEN WITH 143 RBI IN 1996"

And his "counterpart"...

"T-5th AMONG AL FIRST BASEMEN WITH 117 RBI IN 1996"

Tied for 5th? C'mon son. I love having Cecil on as many cards as possible, but they were scraping the bottom of the barrel here. Big Daddy was barely in the top 10 for RBI in '96, overall and just in the AL (tied for 10th). I wonder if it has to do more with the pinstripes he's wearing and less with the stats.

For more great cards with weak stats, check out Grand Cards review of Topps 60.
