1991 Bowman #367

Pretty basic as far as base cards go from the year 1991, though the gold bats in the upper left-hand corner add a touch of class...

1995 Leaf Cornerstones #2 (of 6)

It's horizontal card week (in case you didn't notice), and today we have a fine specimen from Donruss Inc. Nice holographic foil and a guest appearance by fellow franchise player Travis Fryman make this card a winner...

And a nice change of pace having some defensive stats on the back...

1991 Topps "Operation Desert Shield" All-Star #386

Given out to our brave service men and women in '91, these parallels to the base set have a sweet, gold-foil stamped "Operation Desert Shield" logo...

They are on the higher-end of the price spectrum (All-Star's of the time such as Bonds, Clemens, and Henderson can run anywhere from $10 to $40 dollars). I picked up the Cecil All-Star for $1.25 at checkoutmycards.com, and added his regular base ODS card off the 'Bay for $.99!

Oh yeah, wanna know what the most expensive Desert Shield card on Ebay is? Ungraded? The Chipper Jones RC.

***Sorry to my followers for the lack of posts this past week, 5 Tigers games in 5 days left me drained (OK, so I was a little tipsy). I'll be in Chicago this weekend doin' my yearly Wrigley Rooftop with the fellas, but I'll be back Monday with more Big Daddy and some details on the first ever Totally Cecil contest to be held in June.

By the way, check out Grand Cards for some bonus Fielder action!***

1995 Upper Deck "Predictor League Leaders" Exchange #R13

Courtesy of an ebay auction's description...

From a 60 card set called "Predictor League Leaders Exchange", issued in two series. Several players have more than one card.

Cards from this set were those received in exchange for the pack insert game cards of the winners in the various League Leader categories. These cards have the same pictures as the inserts but Silver FOIL on the fronts, rather than Gold, and biographical backs for each player rather than the "baseball game rules" of the inserts.

1990 Topps Big #313

The slightly oversized Topps Big always had that "retro" feel to me way before the "retro" trend hit the card industry...
