Those of you who live in or around the Southeastern Michigan area are more than likely to be familiar with Gibralter Trade Center in beautiful Mt. Clemens. A weekend public flea market, the GTC has held a monthly sports card show for as long as I can remember. It used to be huge, but with cheaper prices, a wider selection, and overall shopping ease, the internet and it's affiliates (Ebay, Checkoutmycards, Sportlots, etc.) have rendered most local card shows obsolete. I attend the show on a monthly basis, but usual end up going for and leaving with only supplies (which I get there for super cheap!). But this weekend...
...I left with a few Cecil cards that A) I didn't have, and B) I never knew existed!
This is just one of five I picked up. It's from a magazine called Investor's Journal, which was described to me as a serious card collector's guide to making money from card collecting. In the 90's. Forgive me if the sarcasm doesn't translate well.
The other four cards from my weekend booty will be the subject of later posts this week. Stay tuned and "Stay classy Indiana" (a great quote courtesy of University of Michigan play-by-play announcer Frank Beckmann after the Indiana student section cheered because Michigan QB Denard Robinson appeared to get injured on a play).
